Artist Statement
My work focuses on specific forms generated by the equation for the Golden Spiral, and the relationship between these forms and light. Using cables, I secured polycarbonate into a physical representation of the Golden Spiral. I then gradually contorted the unique shape into new forms which express their individuality as mutations of the original equation. Equally significant are the dynamic shadows and concentrations of light that further emphasize each sculpture’s uniqueness. These effects, both constituting and resulting from each mutation, give these sculptures a distinct life and expression.
