About Me

A place to learn what kind of things I do, what I do at school, and what I am interested in.  Note that there is nothing Newton related here.

A few links to the best pages out there, books that I have made, reviews of various programs, and the two text to speech apps.

This is where my friends and I split up long homework and then put it back together.

What's New

A list of when things are done to this site so that you can see what info has changed since your last visit.

I recently got to play with both of the text to speech packages that are being developed.  One is Talk To Me, and seems to be by Apple and maybe another company.  The other, seems to be a direct port of the application MacInTalk.  It has nine voices, speed control, pitch control; all of which TalkToMe did not have.  Also, you could select text and have just that read with MacTalk.  Since I donít have these programs to distribute (and then it would be illegal I imagine), I have done the next best thing...

I have recorded the two programs and encoded it in real audio 2.0 for 28.8 modems!  (19.2 modems can get this also or even 2400bps modems!!)

TalkToMe has only one voice, and here it is.

Talk2Me (Requires RealAudio 2.0 or better)

MacTalk has many different voices and controls, so here is the normal reading the same as TalkToMe:

And, here are the many voices of MacTalk (or SpeakToMe).  Please hold your cursor over the picture to see what it is.

Here is Fred to show you how you can control the speed and pitch: (Again, hold your cursor over the picture to see what it is)
